Purpose of Job

The role is to work as part of a small team to provide Cost Management Support to the Client's North Sea team .This will involve close liaison with the Renewals Resources team.

The Cost Management team (CMT) is responsible for providing a proactive and high level support to the Budget Responsibility Officers (BROs). Effective Cost Management has become increasingly important as profit margins are threatened by reduced production and increased cost trends across the North Sea business. This role recognises the need for the budget holders to get a high degree of support, including regular meetings, analysis of cost trends and commitments against budgets and activity levels, and an increased understanding of what lies behind the numbers to facilitate a meaningful level of discussion with the budget holders and appropriate challenge on the cost forecasts. The incumbent will take specific responsibility for supporting certain budget holders as well as working within a team


Main Accountabilities

· Work with Team Lead to assist in Risk analysis of budgets to ensure a targeted and appropriate level of support is given to all areas and particularly higher risk areas.

· Work with back office team to ensure costs are accurately recorded and analysed and commitment information is available. Work with back office team to ensure all actions are completed following BRO meetings.

· Work closely with Team Leads to report timewriting accurately. This is in terms of how much is to be forecasted & how the costs should be allocated across the various assets. Accounts for approx £20m a year. Timewriting will take up approx 50% of this role initially.

· In addition to the timewriting there is also budget for another £7m (approx) of additional opex spend & £45m (approx) capex spend.

· Meet BROs on a regular appropriate basis routinely, and an ad hoc basis as required in order to proactively support them in cost management. There are 7 team leads for timewriting & 12 BRO's. There is also a close relationship with the Client's controller required which will involve constant contact & regular meetings.

· Lead the BRO meetings - ensure that all objectives of the meetings are met and document results and actions of all meetings.

· Ensure that all variances from previous forecast and budget are documented for MI (reporting) purposes.

· Attend cost review meetings with the Team Lead for own areas.

· Training and coaching BROs

· Assist in annual budget process.

· Support the Controllers and Financial analysts

· Other activities including reviewing accrual levels, Tax support, ad hoc queries, CI and Process Improvement, retention of asset/business knowledge etc.

Position reports to Renewals Team Lead

· Part of a small team of 7 although the Renewals Resources is stand alone & is situated within the Renewals team

· Work with the wider Accenture teams (onshore & offshore), encouraging knowledge sharing and promoting best practice.

· Assist in application of standardisation and continuous improvement.

· Meet or exceed target service deliverables within the SLA (Service Level Agreement) and contract.

Skills, knowledge & experience

· Part - qualified accountant (preferred) with 2 years industry experience, or alternatively may have significant depth of experience in the oil industry and/or cost management.

· Good team player

· Good organisational skills

· Sound commercial awareness.

· Self- starter.

· Good analytical approach, problem solver and determined.

· Excellent written & verbal communication skills together with strong interpersonal skills with ability to articulate complex business outcomes and drivers.

· Knowledge of SAP and other accounting systems.

· Strong skills in software packages (Word Powerpoint, Excel)

· Support process efficiency initiatives.

· Proactive approach to issue ownership and resolution, and ability to recognise when issues should be escalated.

· Ability to build and develop excellent client and client and offshore working relationships.
