In addition, consultants need to apply their skills in project and programme management while exhibiting leadership in process re-engineering and implementation of process, technology, and organisational change. Finally, consultants also need to have a working knowledge of the industry and/or the functional areas they serve.

The Consulting workforce is made up of three groups: Management Consulting, Systems Integration Consulting and Technology Consulting. This consulting group structure provides outstanding opportunities to develop highly specialised skills that will help you advance your career.

Job Description
:

Responsible for:

·Defining, designing, building and implementing next generation IP networks (e.g. Core, Aggregation, Distribution, Service Edge and Access) to specifically deliver business objectives

Supervision:

·Potentially - depending upon level of experience and specific project/role. May manage or oversee a team of consultants/analysts/contractors/client representatives and provide leadership and guidance on next generation IP Services to peers and clients.

Main Activities:

·Deliver various feasibility studies around the building of next generation IP networks to support next generation products/services and customer experiences.

·Development of Target and Migration Architectures to deliver network infrastructure in incremental delivery approaches.

·Technical Input to business cases, reviewing business drivers, risks and technical impacts and considerations.

·Definition of the right technical solutions and deployment approaches that correspond to the business needs and objectives.

·Definition and coordination of the deployment activities, including vendor engagement/management, deployment/integration tasks on several sites.

·Definition and execution of a test strategy, qualifying the solution components and architecture models in lab and live network, and ensuring it meets all requirements and specifications.

·Defining and delivering migration/launch strategies of technical change and all external impacts on Customers, Operations, and other networks.

·Application of common project tools and methodologies (schedules, tasks/actions management, resource planning, budget management, etc)

·Where applicable, end-to-end Project Management of various technical releases, involving design, deployment, integration, testing of solutions that meet specific requirements. Management and co-ordination of various resources (internal teams, client, contractors etc) to deliver and deploy technical projects above

Experience Level:

·

Various - Experienced Analyst (1-2 years experience) to Senior Architect/Program Manager (10 years experience)

·

Some degree of training in networking. CCNA qualification or equivalent preferred but other relevant training courses acceptable

·Experience with at least one of large service provider, network equipment vendor and/or network consulting firm. Experience working as part of a team

Key Skills:

·

Strong Analytical skills and experience in gathering and defining requirements for network/technical infrastructures and solutions

·

Where applicable, experienced in project managing/coordinating technical projects from Business Case definition to commercial launch.

·

Strong Communication skills, both written and oral.

·

Experience developing one or more of the following network architectures/technologies:

·IP networks (IP, MPLS, Ethernet),

·Transmission (ATM, SDH, WDM),

·Network Control Plane systems (Dynamic QoS, AAA, Location)

·LAN/WAN Devices and VPN applications

·Load Balancing and Firewall applications,

·Fixed Access Networks (HFC - Docsis 1.0 - 1.2, CDMA, DAVIC, Packet Cable, RF, Optical; DSL - ADSL, DSLAM, NExT, FExT; ISDN - QoS, FTTH)

·Wireless access networks (3G, Wimax, Satellite)

·IP networks and protocols- Transport, routing, Tunnelling,

·Backbone Networks - ATM, SDH, WDM, Frame Relay, ISDN etc

·Strong knowledge of associated services and technologies:

·VoD - Video on Demand

·Voice (VoIP) and teleconferencing,

·Interactive Gaming

·High-Speed Internet services,

·OSS and BSS systems and processes (Provisioning, Assurance, Inventory etc.)

·Service Delivery Platforms and IMS,

·Conditional Access and Digital Rights Management.

·Multimedia Platforms (softswitch etc.)

·Application Servers & Operating Systems (DHCP, DNS, LDAP, MSTV etc.)

·Network security, systems and processes

·Interception systems and processes

·Experience with one or more of the following vendors:

·Cisco, EMC, Alcatel, Ericsson, Lucent, Thomson, BEA, Microsoft, Juniper, BEA
