Job Summary :

The Database Administrator participates in and provides leadership in the development, deployment and support of infrastructures, applications and technology initiatives, both from an architectural and operational perspective in conjunction with existing standards and methods of delivery. Collaborate with other technology teams and clients to deploy technology architectures and solutions. Research, escalate, and resolve, technology problems relating to the global technology environment. Perform and present technology performance analysis, capacity planning, and proactive health checks. The Database Administrator manages the build and run responsibilities for complex, enterprise level RDBMS environment; database design and performance; for a specific database platform or program. Prepared and able to work in a fast paced environment where multi-tasking is required. Self motivator, analytical, able to work independently, proactive and willing to dig in to find problems and identify areas of improvement. Experienced in full life cycle application development. Experience with complex database recoveries, disaster recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Understands the standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Demonstrates proficiency in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Results driven. Documents reusable processes and procedures. Works with the Sr. DBA on complex projects. Build & Test Phase:

? Deploys newly designed platforms - ensuring conformity to schematics and design concepts provided by the infrastructure technical architects

Preferred Qualifications:

? Minimum 2+ years of relevant work experience (Database Administration, Infrastructure/Network Management/Operations, Strategic IT Planning, IT Service/Product Development)

? ORACLE database administration experience

? Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience

? Sybase database administration experience

? MySQL database administration experience is a plus

? Programming experience is a plus

Job Description

People within the Client Operations-AO workgroup are responsible for the day-to-day provision of long-term outsourcing services to one or several clients. Client Operations is where the majority of Services people reside and, typically, people in the workgroup are based permanently at a client location. Application Outsourcing (AO) incorporates skills which support the programming, management and maintenance services required to implement and support new installations or maintain and improve existing legacy systems for our clients.

Purpose of the Job:

* Server administration and maintenance including setting up the environment for newly acquired hardware/software;
* Generate, configure and optimise the performance of the databases;
* Document benchmarks and procedures needed to optimise performance and ensure that all guidelines are followed;
* Provide statistics of server performance;
* Input to the Server Capacity plan for the client (servers, both hardware & software);
* Network support, which will only consist of problem identification (the network is managed by 3rd parties);
* Providing the operations environment with technical support by resolving related requests;
* Provide input on any design decisions for interfacing or integrating databases;
* Conduct build releases to Production and Training environments
* Create/execute Batch runs for Web environment (if required);
* Daily Backups for the following: General Technical maintenance & administration activities, such as cutting CD's, tape backups, Desktop software review, etc.; and
* Support the efforts of the test lead and deployment lead to plan and deploy the applications.

General tasks
